Freeport Production Declines to 41 Million Tons

PT Freeport Indonesia estimates that mineral ore production this year will only be around 41 million tons along with the mining transition process from open-pit mining to underground mining.

Freeport's ore production reaches 178,100 tons per day or around 65 million tons in 2018. Freeport Indonesia's President Director Tony Wenas said that until next year ore production is estimated to be relatively the same and there has been no significant increase. However, these conditions will change from 2021.

"In 2021 production will increase to close to 60 million tons of ore per year and in 2022 we will return to normal production levels," he said on Wednesday (2/27).
Over the past year, Freeport Indonesia's copper sales reached 1.13 billion pounds with production of 1.16 billion pounds. Gold sales last year reached 2.37 million ounces with a production of 2.42 million ounces.

The CEO of Freeport-McMoRan Inc., one of Freeport Indonesia's shareholders, Richard C. Adkerson said that open mining at the Grasberg Mine will be completed in the first half of 2019. Underground mining that the company continues to develop is also expected to be able to immediately increase production during the transition period.
"Transitional years are like restarting our mining operations. This is a big task that we have carefully planned for years and are now executed on schedule, "he said.
He is optimistic that he can reach the targets set in connection with the underground mining operation. The underground mine is targeted to be able to produce more than 200,000 tons of gold ore and high-grade copper per day.

Produksi Freeport Turun ke 41 Juta Ton
PT Freeport Indonesia memperkirakan bahwa produksi bijih mineral pada tahun ini hanya sekitar 41 juta ton seiring dengan proses transisi penambangan dari tambang terbuka ke tambang bawah tanah.
Produksi bijih Freeport mencapai 178.100 ton per hari atau sekitar 65 juta ton pada 2018. Presiden Direktur Freeport Indonesia Tony Wenas mengatakan bahwa hingga tahun depan produksi bijih diperkirakan masih relatif sama dan belum ada peningkatan signifikan. Namun, kondisi tersebut akan berubah mulai 2021.
“Pada 2021 produksi akan naik mendekati 60 juta ton bijih per tahun dan pada 2022 kami akan kembali ke tingkat produksi normal,” katanya, Rabu (27/2).
Sepanjang tahun lalu, penjualan tembaga Freeport Indonesia mencapai 1,13 miliar pon dengan produksi sebanyak 1,16 miliar pon. Penjualan emas sepanjang tahun lalu mencapai 2,37 juta ounce dengan produksi 2,42 juta ounce.
CEO Freeport-McMoRan Inc., salah satu pemegang saham Freeport Indonesia, Richard C. Adkerson mengatakan bahwa penambangan terbuka di Tambang Grasberg akan selesai pada semester I/2019. Tambang bawah tanah yang terus dikembangkan perusahaan pun diharapkan bisa segera menaikkan produksinya selama masa transisi.
“Tahun-tahun transisi seperti memulai kembali operasi tambang kami. lni adalah tugas besar yang sudah kami rencanakan dengan hati-hati selama bertahun-tahun dan sekarang dieksekusi sesuai jadwal,” ujarnya.
Dia optimistis bisa meraih target-target yang telah ditetapkan terkait dengan operasi tambang bawah tanah tersebut. Tambang bawah tanah ditargetkan mampu memproduksi lebih dari 200.000 ton bijih emas dan tembaga berkadar tinggi per hari.
