Freeport Mine Operation Normal Post-incident

PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) said that the production operations at the mine were still normal, despite incidents in the Ore Bin 6 underground mine, Mile Post 74, Tembagapura on April 3, which caused two employees to experience minor injuries and two other employees to die.

Freeport Indonesia spokesman Riza Pratama said that overall operational activities were not affected, aka operating normally. The cause of the incident is still being investigated by Geo Engineering officers and Mine Inspectors.
"Only the area that was evacuated, the work stopped." Said Riza.
Riza said, the incident of the fall of material from the transport lane of ore in the Ore Bin 6 area occurred around 16.07 WIT. The Freeport Mine Rescue Team managed to rescue two employees who suffered minor injuries.
While two other employees were found on April 6 early yesterday. The two victims were employees of the Ore Flow Department. The bodies of two employees were dispatched to Palopo, South Sulawesi and to Jayapura, Papua.
"All the PTFI extended family express their deepest condolences and condolences to the families left behind," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Communication Center, Public Information Services, and Cooperation of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Agung Pribadi, said that the Mining Inspector was deployed to find out the cause of the incident. He has not been able to confirm when the investigation will be completed.
"Hopefully it will be completed in the near future, so that it can be known with certainty the cause of the incident and set forth steps to avoid the same incident," he said.

Operasi Tambang Freeport Normal Pasca lnsiden
PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) mengungkapkan operasi produksi di tambangnya masih berjalan normal, kendati terjadi insiden di tambang bawah tanah Ore Bin 6, Mile Post 74, Tembagapura pada 3 April lalu, lnsiden ini mengakibatkan dua karyawan mengalami cedera ringan dan dua karyawan lainnya meninggal dunia.
Juru bicara Freeport Indonesia Riza Pratama mengatakan, kegiatan operasional secara keseluruhan tidak terdampak alias beroperasi normal. Penyebab insiden masih dalam tahap investigasi yang dilakukan oleh para petugas Geo Engineering dan lnspektur Tambang.
“Hanya daerah yang dievakuasi, pekerjaan berhenti.” kata Riza.
Riza menuturkan, insiden jatuhnya material dari jalur pengangkutan batuan bijih di area Ore Bin 6 terjadi sekitar pukul 16.07 WIT. Tim Penyelamat Tambang Freeport berhasil menyelamatkan dua karyawan yang mengalami cidera ringan.
Sementara dua karyawan lainnya ditemukan pada 6 April dini hari kemarin. Kedua korban tersebut merupakan karyawan Departemen Ore Flow. Jenazah dari dua karyawan diberangkatkan ke Palopo, Sulawesi Selatan dan ke Jayapura, Papua.
“Segenap keluarga besar PTFI menyampaikan duka cita dan bela sungkawa yang sedalam-dalamnya kepada kepada keluarga yang ditinggalkan,” ujarnya.
Sementara itu, Kepala Pusat Komunikasi, Layanan Informasi Publik, dan Kerja Sama Kementerian ESDM Agung Pribadi menuturkan, lnpektur Tambang diterjunkan untuk mengetahui penyebab insiden terjadi. Dia belum bisa memastikan kapan investigasi akan rampung.
“Mudah-mudahan selesai dalam waktu dekat, sehingga bisa diketahui dengan pasti penyebab kejadian dan ditetapkan langkah-langkah ke depan untuk menghindari kejadian yang sama,” tuturnya.
