Vale Indonesia has written to the BUMN to divest 20% of the shares
After giving PT Freeport Indonesia shares, the government is now aiming for a 20% divestment of PT Vale Indonesia Tbk (INCO) shares to be targeted. The move was taken after November last year, Vale Indonesia wrote to the Ministry of State Enterprises (BUMN) regarding its obligations as contract holders of work (KK) to fulfill the share divestment in October 2019.

The Ministry of BUMN's Deputy for Business Strategic Mining and Media, Fajar Harry Sampurno confirmed that he had received a notification letter from Vale Indonesia regarding the share divestment process this year. Strictly speaking, Fajar said, BUMN was interested in accommodating the share divestment. However, even though the statement has been submitted by Vale Indonesia, the Ministry of BUMN has not provided further assignments regarding this matter.
"Vale has sent a letter. We are interested, but there has been no assignment (to BUMN)," he said.
Referring to KK amendments between the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) and Vale Indonesia signed on October 17, 2014, the government requires integrated mining and processing companies to divest 40 percent of their shares to companies in Indonesia.
To date, Vale Indonesia has handed over 20.49% shares to companies in Indonesia. As a result, there is a remaining 20% obligation to be released. As expected, PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminum (Inalum) as the parent of Mining BUMN Holding took an interest in the share divestment. 20% of that. Inalum's Managing Director, Budi Gunadi Sadikin stated, nickel is an important product for the development of the battery industry which is considered strategic for the future.
However, according to Budi, his party has not received an order to take Vale's shares. As a result, Inalum is currently only waiting for further direction from SOE Minister Rini Soemarno and ESDM Minister Ignatius Jonan.
"If I am asked or assigned, it is important or not (Vale's shares), I say it is important. However, the execution depends on the assignment. We have to ask the Minister (BUMN) and Minister (ESDM)," Budi said.
So far, Vale Indonesia has not been willing to explain the seconds of the divestment process. PT Vale Senior Manager Communication Indomesia Bayu Aji is reluctant to give anything related to the planned 20% divestment of Vale shares.
The Director of ESDM Ministry of Mineral Development and Business, Yunus Saefulhak, said that he had also received the diveastasi letter, "(The shares) were offered to Inalum and Antam," he said.
President Director of Antam, Arie Prabowo Ariotedjo, said that his party would not take the 20% stake because of its focus on downstream development.

Setelah Freeport, Inalum Membidik Saham Vale
Setelah memberong saham PT Freeport Indonesia, kini pemerintah membidik divestasi 20% saham PT Vale Indonesia Tbk (INCO) dibidik.
