For the umpteenth time Freeport Indonesia insisted. This is what I read in the media today related to the fulfillment of divestment of shares and the calculation of taxes to be settled and paid the company from the United States.
As expected, the government's bluff requiring Freeport to give a minimum of 51% stake to the country is ignored. If the divestment affairs of the Freeport do not want, let alone the obligation to build a smelter, it will certainly be kept away by the mining company.
If from the business calculations, Freeport claims to have contributed to the state of Indonesia and Papua, through the payment of taxes and development around the mine and other areas. But if I read, by managing the mine in Grasberg that makes Freeport strong until now. So, it is appropriate and reasonable that this company pay taxes and pay attention to development in Papua.
Instead of eyelets, whether Freeport will be subject to the will of the government, or need to hold time-consuming negotiations, it is better for the government to wait until the Freeport Indonesia contract expires. After that just say the bye bye.

Untuk kesekian kalinya Freeport Indonesia ngotot. Ini yang saya baca di media hari ini terkait pemenuhan divestasi saham serta penghitungan pajak yang harus dituntaskan dan dibayarkan perusahaan asal Amerika Serikat tersebut.
Seperti sudah diduga, gertakan pemerintah yang mewajibkan Freeport memberi saham minimal 51% ke negara tidak digubris. Kalau urusan divestasi saja si Freeport tidak mau, apalagi kewajiban membangun smelter, sudah pasti bakal dijauhkan oleh perusahaan tambang tersebut.
Kalau dari hitung-hitungan bisnis, Freeport mengklaim sudah berjasa terhadap negara Indonesia dan Papua, lewat pembayaran pajak dan pembangunan di sekitar area tambang dan lainnya. Namun kalau saya baca, dengan mengelola tambang di Grasberg itulah yang membuat Freeport kuat hingga kini. Jadi, amat pantas dan wajar saja kalau perusahaan ini membayar pajak dan memperhatikan pembangunan di Papua.
Daripada eyel-eyelan, apakah Freeport bakal tunduk terhadap kemauan pemerintah, atau perlu mengadakan perundingan yang memakan waktu dan tenaga, ada baiknya pemerintah menunggu waktu saja sampai kontrak Freeport Indonesia benar-benar habis. Setelah itu tinggal mengucapkan bye bye.
