The movement of PT Freeport McMorran's shares slowed after the acquisition by PT Inalum, following concerns over the trade war between China and the US that can affect copper prices. Freeport shares have fallen since August. PT. Freeport McMoran fell to its lowest level for a week finally after PT Inalum completed the acquisition of 51% of PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) shares.
However, the drop in the value of Freeport shares is more related to investor concerns about the trade war between China and the United States which is believed to drag mineral companies. The signing was attended by Minister of BUMN Rini Soemarno, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Ignasius Jonan, Minister Memories of Sri Mulyani, Freeport CEO Richard Adkerson, President Director of PT Inalum (Persero) Budi Gunadi Sadikin, and Executive Director of PT Freeport Indonesia Tony Wenas.

Thus the number of PTFI shares owned by INALUM will increase from 9.36% to 51.23% while the regional government of Papua obtain 10% of 100% of PTFI's shares. This change in share ownership will officially occur after a payment transaction of US $ 3.85 billion or equivalent with IDR 56 trillion to FCX completed by November 2018 at the latest

Dengan demikian jumlah saham PTFI yang dimiliki INALUM akan meningkat dari 9,36% menjadi 51.23% Sementara pemerintah daerah Papua
memperoleh 10% dari 100% saham PTFI. Perubahan kepemilikan saham ini akan resmi terjadi setelah transaksi pembayaran sebesar US$ 3,85 miliar atau setara dengan Rp 56 triliun kepada FCX diselesaikan selambatnya November 2018

Negara importir tembaga terbesar di dunia itu menaikkan bea masuk menjadi 25% terhadap berbagai produk logam AS, termasuk tembaga olahan.
Langkah itu diambil sebagai tindakan balas dendam atas kenaikan tarif masuk yang dijatuhkan Washington terhadap produk logam dari Cina.
