Copper and Gold Production
PT Freeport Indonesia is still recording a positive production and sales performance for 9 months during this year and the Grasberg mine in Papua. Freeport Indonesia produces 332 million pounds of copper during the third quarter of 2018 or grew by 13% compared to the same period last year of 293 million pounds.
The production in the third quarter of 2018 increased the total copper production to 990 million pounds as of September 2018. The gold production of Freeport-McMoRan's subsidiary increased significantly by 83%, equivalent to 754,000 ounces compared to the same period last year of 412,000 ounces.

The performance also fulfilled the total gold sales achievement of 2.1 million ounces by the end of September 2018, a 120% growth compared with the same period last year.
"It mainly describes the level of operation and higher ore grades," he said in a written report.
Richard continued, until the end of this year, the consolidation volume of mining in Indonesia was estimated at 1.16 billion pounds of copper and 2.45 million ounces of gold in 2018 compared to 1.0 billion pounds of copper and 1.5 million ounces of gold in 2017.
According to him, when Freeport Indonesia shifted mining from open to underground mining, copper and gold production was expected to be lower.
The transition period of open mines to underground mines is in 2019 and 2020. However, he ensures metal production will increase significantly after the period of 2021. Richard said, the projection of copper and gold sales volumes in 2018 will contain a number of factors, including operational performance, productivity labor, delivery time and Indonesian regulatory issues.

PT Freeport Indonesia masih mencatatkan kinerja produksi dan penjualan yang positif selama 9 bulan selama tahun ini dan tambang Grasberg di Papua. Freeport Indonesia memproduksi 332 juta pon tembaga sepanjang kuartal III/2018 atau tumbuh 13% dibandingkan dengan periode yang sama tahun lalu 293 juta pon.
Hasil produksi selama kuartal III/2018 itu menambah total capaian produksi tembaga menjadi 990 juta pon per September 2018. Produksi emas anak usaha Freeport-McMoRan naik signifikan, yaitu 83% atau setara dengan 754.000 ounce dibandingkan dengan periode yang sama tahun lalu 412.000 ounce.
Produksi yang masih bersinar ini juga membuat raihan total produksi hingga akhir September 2018 mencapai 2 juta ounce. CEO Freeport-McMoRan Richard C. Adkerson dalam laporan kuartal III/2018 menyebutkan bahwa dari sisi volume penjualan konsolidasi di Indonesia sebesar 368 juta pon tembaga dan 831.000 ounce emas pada kuartal III/2018. Volume penjualan itu lebih tinggi dan penjualan kuartal III/ 201 7 sebesar 258 juta pon tembaga dan 352.000 ounce emas.
Kinerja itu juga menggenapi capaian total penjuaian emas sebesar 2,1 juta ounce hingga akhir September 2018, tumbuh 120% dibandingkan dengan periode sama tahun lalu.
“Hal itu terutama menggambarkan tingkat operasi dan kadar bijih yang lebih tinggi," katanya dalam Iaporan tertulis.
Richard melanjutkan, hingga berkhirnya tahun ini, volume penjuaian konsolidasi dari penambangan di Indonesia diperkirakan mencapai 1,16 miliar pon tembaga dan 2,45 juta ounce emas pada 2018 dibandingkan dengan 1,0 miliar pon tembaga dan 1,5 juta ounce emas pada 2017.
Menurutnya, ketika Freeport Indonesia mengalihkan penambangan dari tambang terbuka ke bawah tanah, produksi tembaga dan emas diperkirakan akan lebih rendah.
Masa transisi tambang terbuka ke tambang bawah tanah itu pada 2019 dan 2020. Namun, dia memastikan produksi logam akan meningkat secara signifikan setelah periode 2021.
Richard menuturkan, proyeksi volume penjualan tembaga dan emas pada 2018 akan bergartung pada sejumlah faktor, termasuk kinerja operasional, produktivitas tenaga kerja, waktu pengiriman dan masalah regulasi Indonesia.
